Police recovered the body of a married woman in suspicious condition on Friday night in Nalanda, Bihar. The matter is of Nonia Bigha village under Hilsa police station area. The deceased has been identified as Sudha Devi (27), wife of Santosh Paswan, resident of Nonia Bigha village. The maternal relatives of the deceased are accusing the in-laws family of murdering her for dowry. The family took the body to Sadar Hospital on Saturday morning for post-mortem with the help of police.
Regarding the incident, the deceased’s brother Sonelal Kumar, resident of Lohgani of Sohsarai police station area, said that his in-laws family was always harassing his sister. Even during her pregnancy, sister’s father-in-law had beaten her. Before this, an attempt was made to kill him by giving him rat poison. She was cured after treatment.
He told that he received information from the police that his sister has died. The 10-year-old nephew told them that he was sleeping on the terrace when the family members strangled his mother to death. After this he was asked to tell his maternal family about his mother’s suicide.
According to the information, Sudha was married to Santosh Paswan in the year 2010. Meanwhile, two sons and two daughters were also born. A son was born just three months ago. The in-laws family was demanding Rs 2 lakh. When her parents could not fulfill her demand, Sudha was strangled to death.
Hilsa police station incharge Abhijeet Kumar said that the police received information last night that the body of a woman was lying in the house. After this the police immediately reached the spot and the body was identified. After that the body was taken into custody and sent to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Further action will be taken upon receipt of the application. The police have started investigating the entire matter. The cause of death will be revealed only after the post mortem report comes.
